Wireless Bridging.. Remove that cable running through the house

Internet I had this long 30' ethernet cable connecting my remote hub in the home office with my Cable Modem and Wireless Router downstairs. For years I considered drilling holes through walls and ceilings but never got around to it. Recently someone told me about a Wireless Bridge.

The only reason I am posting this is because I found a really great deal for a wireless-G Bridge for only $20 at compusa. Its a Viewsonic WAPBR-100 which lists for $60-$80. The sale ends June 30, 2005, after which the price probably goes back to $60..
I had doubts about a networking product from a CRT/Monitor Company, and several reviews online gave it a thumbs down, but at that price I just had to try it. The config is very hokey, but is similar to the Linksys UI if you are used to that. The WAPBR-100 was designed more for a single network appliance but it appears you can nest as many switches and hubs behind it and it still works.

ViewSonic support was very responsive and helped me get a 128bit WEP encrypted bridge working in a matter of minutes. I have three devices plugged into the hub in the office and all of them were able to access the Cablemodem and Router across the bridge at insane speeds. Not as fast as the hard-wire (~80 Mbps) mind you, but still tons more bandwidth than I was getting from Cable.

If you have a long ethernet cable running through your dwelling and you wish you could just make it disappear, this is your best bet, cheap.
