Get your Credit Report

Internet It’s that time of year again, if you haven’t done so already make sure to take advantage of your right to a free credit report from the three credit bureaus.

In the past we have posted the phone numbers for each agency and you have to would call each one to get your free report if you lived in certain states. It is now free in all states once per calendar year.

Credit Report:

They have finally made a standardized website that allows you to get all three reports online. It asks for your basic info once and then takes you to each of the three sites one by one.

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/
It worked brilliantly for me and is totally legit. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion delivered my report in mere seconds.

Do not confuse this site with the www.freecreditreport.com “credit monitoring” scam you see on TV ;)

Credit Score:

Your right to a free report does not give you the right to a free credit score L So if you want your score, they cost $7.95 at Equifax and TU. Scores are only $5.95 at Experian.

I got one from all three as a test this year. Equifax uses the old-school FairIsaac calculations and is between 350 and 850. Experian and TransUnion use FICO’s new score which goes from 501 to 990 and has a neat-o academic style grade of A,B,C,D and F.

You should buy at least one score so you can compare how you are doing each year.
