Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta 2962 Reads
.
.
Internet My buddy Wally (ironically, a mac os user) recommended Microsoft's new anti-spyware application as a way to get rid of the HomeSearchAssistant browser hijack. It's in beta but runs just fine. The scan was much faster than Ad-Aware or SBS&D. If anyone could get rid of a hijack in IE, it would have to be microsoft as they are the only ones with the source, so I gave it a try...

IE Browser hijacks causing exodus to Firefox? 2274 Reads
.
.
Internet I was a die-hard microsoft IE user for a very long time, but over the holidays my laptop became victim to adware, spyware and a browser hijacks. Once you get one it will multiply if you dont take care of it immediately. Malware these days is a lot more "effective" than it was just 6 months ago.. In the past, if you caught any non-virus bug, you'd run Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D and you'd be clean in a jiffy. No such luck these days.. in fact, an entire industry has spawned to deal with the epidemic.

Half-Life 2 For those of you who have been waiting for a halflife 2 multiplayer experience other than the played out counterstrike: source, the time has come. HL2 Deathmatch was released today. I haven't tried it yet but someone should get a server up and running.. HL2World Forums has a post on how to start a DM server:

"Just type net_start, sv_lan 0, deathmatch 1, maxplayers (whatever you want), map (mapname), restart in the console in this order and you're good to go"

Winter Sports Some Bouldernet folks headed up to Eldora on Sunday - and the conditions were amazing considering how early in the season it is. We should all think about getting out as a group sometime soon.

Winter Recreation Areas Eldora Mountain Resort is scheduled to open tomorrow morning at 9am. The weather up here is beautiful (currently 37°F), and tomorrow should bring great skiing and riding on Hornblower / International and (tentatively) Jolly Jug / Sunset. Hope to see you here! And if you read this here, feel free to stop in and say 'how-do' to me at Ski Patrol Head Quarters at the top of the Challange lift!
